About this Speaker

Paul Makovsky is an award-winning writer, strategist, content creator and design industry veteran with more than 20 years in publishing. He began his career as the director of research at the Smithsonian’s Cooper Hewitt, National Design Museum, for the exhibition “Mixing Messages: Graphic Design in Contemporary Culture.” He went on to lead senior roles at brands such as Metropolis and Contract. A graduate of McGill University in Montreal and the University of Toronto, he has curated a wide range of exhibitions including the history of Canadian women artists, the history of Knoll textiles, and Norwegian contemporary design. In his spare time, he’s working on a modernist cookbook and biography of Florence Knoll Bassett.
